I am the parent of a 20 year old alcoholic. I had always attributed his drinking to immaturity and him being a teenager. I did not realize how much of a problem he had until he went off to college. After a DUI, my husband and I had him leave college and insisted he get into a treatment program. He did, and that program has been a lifesaver for all of us, especially our son.
Treatment came after many tears, arguments, and sleepless nights. We are now going in the right direction. There has never been a more true statement than “One Day at a Time.”
